The Winter Park Playhouse concludes its popular 2013-2014 series of professional musical theatre with the upcoming mainstage production, Forbidden Broadway's Greatest Hits, April 25 – May 17. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm and Thursdays and Saturdays at 2:00 pm. Additional matinee performances include Sunday, May 4 and May 11 at 2:00 pm and Wednesday, May 14 at 2:00 pm. A special "Third Thursday" performance is May 8 at 7:30 pm and the preview performance is Thursday, April 24 at 7:30 pm. A hit Off-Broadway musical revue, Forbidden Broadway's Greatest Hits is a hilarious, loving, and endlessly-entertaining tribute to many of Broadway's greatest shows and musical legends. Laugh out loud as the cast parodies selections from Annie, Wicked, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Cats and many more. Forbidden Broadway was conceived and written by Gerard Alessandrini and is a three-time winner of the prestigious Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revue. The show, in its various editions, has been performed over 9,000 times in more than 200 U.S. cities as well as playing in London, Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney. The New York Times calls this show "Continuously riotous!" and The New York Post calls it "Gut-bustingly funny." Directed and choreographed by Roy Alan and music directed by Christopher Leavy, this production features an outstanding cast of professionals including returning talents, Heather Kopp and Alyssa Yost, and newcomers, Benjamin Ptashinsky and David Almeida. The Playhouse trio will accompany the cast with Christopher Leavy on piano, Ned Wilkinson on bass, and Sam Forrest on percussion. Ticket prices are: $38 evenings; $35 senior evenings; $28 all matinees; $25 "Third Thursday" evening, $20 industry professionals and students 25 years and under (with valid ID) and $18 preview performance. Student rush "$10@10" offers $10 tickets for students 25 years and under, 10 minutes prior to a performance when seats are available.
